We got a ride to the New London train station from Laura. The train was supposed to leave at 9:48, but didn't get off until close to 10. We had to scramble to find seats - Nathaniel and I were across the aisle from one another and Dave was three rows up. Fortunately a good number of people got off in New Haven so we were able to change seats so that Nathaniel and I sat next to each other and Dave sat across the aisle from me.
We had our packed lunch of grinders from McQuades which were excellent. We remembered that the food on the train was horrible and decided we could do much better. We arrived at Union Station in DC at 4:25 and caught a cab to our home away from home on 12th Street. We walked a couple of blocks to Whole Foods and picked up items for breakfast for the week. After stowing our groceries, we took a walk around the block and ate at the Greek Spot. Dinner was very good: Nathaniel had a Falalfal platter, Dave had the Chicken Souvlaki platter and I had a chicken souvlaki pita. That was the best pita bread I have ever had! It was served with a side of homemade hummus - delish! We are back at the house and will play a game of cards before bed. There will be more pics tomorrow.
