2/11/23 Homestead and Florida City

We decided to check out a few of the local nature trails this morning.  Unfortunately, most of them bombed.  Despite looking them up on Google, they were two of the five we tried to find were non-existent.  Another showed up just off the map, but the gravel road we were supposed to take to get to it was flooded and very sketchy. There was no way I would drive a rental car through there and the road was too wet to walk.  We did find two others though.  One was a small park in a neighborhood.  There we found two moorhens in one small pond and a bunch of white ibis in the other.  The gray looking ibis in the photo is a juvenile.  The last place we stopped was also in a neighborhood.  That is where we found the Muscovy duck.  He was obviously used to people as he came very close to us.  As we got back to the car, it started to sprinkle so we decided to call it a day.  We ate lunch out and will stay in for dinner tonight.  I have to say, there are not a lot of choices of restaurants in the area.  We may have better luck tomorrow as we are going further afield to a farm and flea market.  Will let you know how that goes.
